Two witnesses.  Two prophets.  They preach against the monster.  And for that they are executed.  They come in the spirit of Zerubbabel and Joshua as well as Moses and Elijah.  They take the path of Jesus, speaking truth in their generation, even if it costs them their lives (and it does).  Here is a powerful reminder to the church to stand as witnesses of Jesus, being faithful to what He taught and who He is, even if it costs us our lives.  We will not become part of the beast or create a monster to defeat the monster.  Instead stand as faithful witnesses.

Gardening God's Way

Monday Jul 21, 2025

Monday Jul 21, 2025

In the beginning - a garden.  In "the end" - a garden.  Those are the bookends of the Bible story.  What then is consistent with the story in between those bookends?  Gardening God's Way!  In this sermon we dive into God's desire for multiplication, reproduction, procreation, yield, and harvest.  That fruit is both in our own personal lives (think fruit of the Holy Spirit) AND in Jesus' larger family (think the great commission - make disciples).  THAT is how to Garden God's Way.  Check it out.

From a teaching that I shared with my men's group.  Paul identifies so called "super apostles" in the church in Corinth and urges them (and us) to not idolize celebrity pastors and get caught in the trap that "it's all about us," but instead to lean on God's power and point toward Jesus' glory.  That in our weakness it is God (not us!) that is proven to be strong.  HE is the source of our strength.  Check it out.

A standalone podcast.  From a sermon I had the honor of teaching to a congregation that have long supported my ministry.  "Defy the Devil, Rely on the Written" is a journey thru Jesus' three wilderness temptations.  Parallels are drawn to Genesis and the garden as well as Israel in the wilderness wandering.  We see how Jesus is the new Adam, the new Israel, the new Joshua, the faithful Son of God and Son of Man.  Jesus fulfills what was required of humans.  He is also our role model for how to unmask and rebuke temptations.  Check it out.

Reading Revelation 10:1-6 (RR24)

Wednesday Jun 18, 2025

John describes his experience of prophetic call and receiving a scroll in the ways that Ezekiel and Daniel described their prophetic experiences.  John is telling us to think about what he's saying in a way consistent with those prophets.  So in this episode let's explore Ezekiel and Daniel and learn what they have to say about apocalyptic writing and some implications that has for how we understand John's Apocalypse.

Idols aren't actually anything.  People make idols.  Yet behind idols there is a real sinister reality.  The journey thru Revelation continues on the Eusebeia podcast.

Locust attack!  Now where have we heard that before?  Literal?  Symbol of demonic armies?  What is God doing here?  Check it out as the journey through apocalypse continues.

Paul's Gospel

Tuesday May 06, 2025

Tuesday May 06, 2025

What an interesting journey!  Here's what I did.  We know about the gospels according to Matthew, Mark, Luke, and John.  But what about the gospel of Paul?  In his letters he says things like "my gospel" or "the gospel that I preach."  But other than a few really short sermons from Acts, we actually don't know that much about Paul's gospel as a cohesive whole.  The letter to the Romans comes the closest, but even it lacks details that some of Paul's other letters contain.  So I went on a journey to try and re-create as best I am able the most exhaustive compilation of Paul's gospel.  So here it is.  Enjoy.

God acts in ways consistent with the prophets.  Just as Isaiah and Ezekiel and Daniel spoke in apocalyptic ways to their generations, so too John carries on that tradition.  God is acting consistently.  Same story, different time period.  And so as God's judgments are poured out we lean on what happened in the biblical past to inform John's present and see what all this meant for him and his audience (the seven churches).  The trumpets blast.  Lets learn what they have to say.
